On June 12, 2023, former Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Border Investigator Patrick Gorena was convicted and sentenced for extortion in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Gorena was sentenced to 10 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, a $5,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment.

On June 12, 2023, John Rafferty, former general manager of LJ Electric, Inc., pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts to conspiracy to commit wire fraud for involvement in a scheme to defraud Keolis Commuter Services. On April 4, 2023, the U.S. Attorney's Office filed an information charging Rafferty with conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

On June 1, 2023, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland sentenced Lee Ryan Fondiller to 12 months of probation, a $5,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment. On August 25, 2022, Fondiller pleaded guilty to one count of concealment of assets with the intent to defeat the provisions of a bankruptcy proceeding.
 
The investigation revealed that from July through October 2018, Fondiller received property from a debtor after the filing of the debtor's bankruptcy proceeding, intending to defeat the provisions of the bankruptcy proceeding.

On May 25, 2023, the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Lake County, Illinois, convicted and sentenced Gregory Swanson to 18 months of conditional discharge, 100 hours of community service, $8,332.61 in restitution, a $1,000 fine, and a $1,000 contribution to the Illinois Crime Stoppers Association. Additionally, Swanson’s Illinois Law Enforcement Certification was voluntarily relinquished. Swanson also pleaded guilty to an amended count of theft under $500 in exchange for dismissing Swanson’s felonies.

On June 6, 2023, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas convicted and sentenced Ronald P. Franklin for knowingly and willfully falsifying an aircraft's annual inspection records. Franklin had pleaded guilty to making a false statement and admitted to fraudulently claiming to be an Inspection Authorization holder. Franklin also falsely certified an annual inspection on an aircraft. The aircraft subsequently experienced an in-flight power loss leading to a crash.

On May 26, 2023, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) debarred Carol “Casey” Smith, former president and chief surveyor of Martin Enterprises, Inc., (MEI) for a period of 5 years retroactive from Smith’s date of suspension, June 1, 2018. On March 25, 2022, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut sentenced Smith to a $1,000 fine and a $10 special assessment.
