California Business Owner Sentenced for Fraud and Identity Theft Related to a Drone Show
On October 20, 2022, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, David J. Oneal, owner of Wildly Creative Marketing, was sentenced to 32 months of incarceration, 60 months of supervised release, $45,140 in restitution, and a $200 special assessment for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. In May 2018, Oneal agreed to perform a drone show at SeaWorld in San Antonio, Texas and provided SeaWorld with falsified and fraudulently used documents. The documents included false pilot information and certificates of registration from FAA for small unmanned aircraft systems. Upon receipt of the documents, SeaWorld made two separate payments to Oneal, but Oneal did not appear or perform the drone show.
