On September 15, 2023, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Alabama entered into a civil settlement with The Bridge Builders of Alabama, LLC (TBBA). TBBA, a bridge construction, pile driving, and foundation drilling firm, agreed to pay a total of $104,422 to resolve alleged civil violations of the False Claims Act.
According to the settlement agreement, TBBA contracted with Mimcor, LLC, a disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE), to fulfill its DBE percentage goals for work on Alabama State road and bridge projects. The United States contends that TBBA knowingly made false representations regarding Mimcor’s participation in the projects and falsified documents to make it appear that Mimcor performed work when TBBA employees and equipment actually completed the work.
The claims resolved by the settlement are allegations only, and there has been no determination of liability.
