In January 2023, Chair Maria Cantwell of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee requested that we review the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) compliance with congressionally mandated aviation safety reforms within the 2020 Aircraft Certification Safety and Accountability Act (ACSAA). This request highlighted 10 specific sections of ACSAA that the Committee considered especially important in light of its work on the upcoming FAA reauthorization, including several related to the certification of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Our response to this request, along with a summary status chart for each analyzed section, has been forwarded to Congress as requested.
