Oklahoma Individual Sentenced In Connection With False Representation as a Certified Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic
On April 19, 2023, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma convicted and sentenced Gordon Bellamy, Jr., for illegally accessing an FAA database to acquire the Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate of another person. Bellamy was sentenced to 20 months of imprisonment, 3 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment. In October 2022, Bellamy pleaded guilty to computer access fraud.
The August 2022 indictment for wire fraud, computer access fraud, and aggravated identity theft alleged that Bellamy used a computer to illegally access an FAA database and fraudulently obtain an A&P certificate. Bellamy then used the certificate to gain employment at an Oklahoma City aircraft repair station supervising maintenance technicians.
