Investigations

On February 21, 2023, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin sentenced Kevin Shibilski to 33 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, $197,458 in restitution, and a $100 special assessment. In May 2022, Shibilski pleaded guilty to willfully failing to pay approximately $197,458 in Federal income tax and taxes related to the Federal Insurance Contributions Act to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on behalf of Pure Extractions, Inc., and Wisconsin Logistics Solutions, Inc. Shibilski was indicted in 2020 on environmental and fraud charges related to the illegal storage and disposal of hazardous broken and crushed cathode ray tube glass.

 

DOT-OIG is conducting this investigation with the Environmental Protection Agency-Criminal Investigation Division, the FBI, IRS-Criminal Investigation, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
