Washington Individual Indicted for Aiming a Laser Pointer at an Aircraft

On February 15, 2023, a grand jury in the Western District of Washington indicted Christopher Harris on two counts of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft. The indictment alleges that on November 20, 2022, Harris aimed the beam of a laser pointer at, and at the flight path of, two aircraft in flight near Arlington Municipal Airport in Arlington, Washington. One pilot suffered visual impairment when the laser beam illuminated the cockpit.
 
DOT-OIG is conducting this investigation with the Marysville Police Department in Marysville, Washington.
