Former FAA Employee Charged with Falsification of Records and Bribery

On September 21, 2022, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the U.S. Attorney filed an information charging Michael Puehler, a former Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aviation Safety Inspector, with falsification of records and receiving an illegal gratuity from a public official. The information states that on or about September 20, 2018, Puehler falsified an airman certificate and application rating for a flight instructor. Puehler also accepted payment from the instructor while knowing the instructor did not satisfactorily complete any renewal requirements.

DOT-OIG is conducting this investigation with FAA.
