On September 21, 2022, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the U.S. Attorney filed an information charging Michael Puehler, a former Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aviation Safety Inspector, with falsification of records and receiving an illegal gratuity by a public official. The information states that on or about September 20, 2018, Puehler falsified an airman certificate and rating application for a flight instructor. Puehler also accepted payment from the instructor while knowing the instructor did not satisfactorily complete any renewal requirements.
DOT-OIG is conducting this investigation with FAA.
