Georgia Individual Sentenced for CARES Act Loan Fraud Scheme

On June 29, 2022, Curtis Porch was sentenced in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia to 21 months of incarceration, 3 years of supervised release, $133,000 in restitution, a $100 special assessment, and was ordered to forfeit four automobiles. In January 2022, Porch pleaded guilty to one count of theft of government property. The investigation determined Porch submitted a loan application to the Small Business Administration on behalf of a sham trucking company in an attempt to steal approximately $133,200 in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds.
