Former Tennessee Non-Profit Executive Pleaded Guilty to Theft of Public Funds

On July 18, 2022, Diana Threadgill pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee to theft of Government funds related to a multi-year grant fraud scheme. Threadgill was the former Executive Director of the Mississippi River Corridor Tennessee (MRCT), a non-profit organization once based in Memphis, Tennessee. MRCT was primarily funded through donations and grants provided by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). According to the plea agreement, Threadgill sought and received funding from the TVA in the name of MRCT from 2015 through 2017, despite knowing the MRCT Board of Directors had voted to dissolve the organization.
