New Jersey Individual Sentenced in Connection With Scheme To Use Drones To Smuggle Contraband Into Fort Dix Federal Prison

On June 28, 2022, the U.S. District Court of New Jersey sentenced Nicolo Denichilo to 2 years of probation, which included 6 months of home detention; a $4,000 fine; and a $100 special assessment. Between November 2018 and March 2020, Denichilo participated in multiple drone deliveries of contraband into Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution. Denichilo assisted in flying drones at night and dropping packages of contraband into the prison, where it was sold to inmates for a profit. The packages included cell phones and accessories, tobacco, weight loss supplements, eyeglasses, and other items.
