Investigations

On February 1, 2022, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, Brent Brewbaker was convicted of conspiracy to rig bids and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud against the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). Brewbaker was indicted on similar charges in October 2020. The investigation revealed that Brewbaker conspired for nearly a decade to rig bids for aluminum structure projects that facilitate drainage underneath or around paved roads, bridges, and overpasses. DOT and NCDOT funded these projects.
