Former Federal Railroad Administration Inspector Convicted of Making a False Statement
On December 10, 2021, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Tremelle Sykes, a former hazardous material safety inspector for the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), was adjudicated guilty of making a false statement after entering a guilty plea on November 9. Sykes had been indicted on eight counts of making false statements. The indictment alleged that between January and June 2019, Sykes made and used FRA inspections reports that falsely stated that Sykes performed hazardous material inspections at railyard companies.
