North Carolina Individual Indicted for False Statements and Fraud Involving an Aircraft
On August 3, 2021, a grand jury in the Eastern District of North Carolina indicted Christopher Loeffel for false statements and fraud involving an aircraft. The indictment alleged that in November 2020, Loeffel made material false statements to DOT-OIG agents about performing maintenance on an aircraft, receiving payment for the maintenance, and knowing the aircraft owner. The indictment further alleged that in February 2019, Loeffel forged the initials and signature of a certified aircraft mechanic for a 100-hour airframe inspection.
