North Carolina Company Sentenced for Making False Statements
On June 7, 2021, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina sentenced Bio-Adhesive Alliance, Inc. (BAA) to 5 years of probation, an $800 special assessment, and $881,669.69 in restitution. On March 23, BAA pleaded guilty to making false statements to the government. The investigation revealed that between July 2015 and May 2016, BAA made false statements in grant applications in order to receive funding from multiple government agencies.
DOT-OIG conducted this investigation with the Environmental Protection Agency-OIG and the National Science Foundation-OIG.
