Operators of Charter Bus Company Debarred
On April 29, 2021, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) debarred Le Wen Wu, owner and sole corporate officer of passenger bus charter company L&W Travel Inc. (L&W) and Yat Kuen Chan, a consultant for L&W, for a period of 3 years. On October 8, 2019, Wu and Chan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to pay and bribe a public official. In July and August 2018, Wu and Chan paid an FMCSA safety investigator $2,800 to influence an L&W compliance review and safety audit to ensure that L&W was not subject to significant fines despite multiple other DOT safety violations.
DOT-OIG conducted this investigation jointly with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and with assistance from FMCSA.
Note: A suspension or debarment frequently covers a specific period of time. Please consult the System for Award Management to determine whether a company or individual is currently suspended or debarred.
