Idaho Company Owner Pleads Guilty To Making False Statements and Violating Hazmat Regulations

On May 19, 2021, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, Loren Jacobson, owner of KCCS, Inc., a tanker testing and repair company, pleaded guilty to making an illegal repair to a cargo tanker in violation of the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act and lying to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. On August 14, 2018, a KCCS employee was severely injured in an explosion during a cargo tanker repair at the facility, prompting the DOT-OIG investigation.
 
DOT-OIG is conducting this investigation with the Environmental Protection Agency Criminal Investigation Division and the Department of Labor-OIG, with substantial assistance from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
