Owner of Utah Construction Company Sentenced for Major Fraud Against the United States

On April 29, 2021, the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah sentenced Eddie Lee, owner of construction company E-Corp, to 2 years’ probation, $52,500 in criminal fines, and a $100 special assessment. On December 9, 2020, Lee pleaded guilty to one count of major fraud. Lee executed a scheme to obtain money and property by fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises in a contract with the United States valued at more than $1 million, and submitted an invoice requesting payment under the fraudulently obtained contract. The investigation identified that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and FAA awarded E-Corp contracts; however, the plea agreement was not based on contracts funded by FAA.

DOT-OIG conducted this investigation with VA-OIG, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Army Criminal Investigation Division, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
