Owners of Massachusetts Motor Carrier Company Charged and Arrested for False Statements, Conspiracy, and Falsification of Records
On February 25, 2021, a grand jury in the District of Massachusetts indicted Dunyadar Gasanov and Dartanyan Gasanov, owners of Westfield Transport, Inc., a for-hire interstate motor carrier company out of West Springfield, Massachusetts, for falsification of records. Dunyadar was also indicted for conspiracy to falsify records and making a false statement to Federal investigators. The indictment alleged that Dunyadar, between April 8, 2019, and April 19, 2019, and Dartanyan, between April 8, 2019, and June 19, 2019, falsely entered into their respective driving logs that they were off duty, when in fact they were driving commercial vehicles. The indictment also alleged that between March 2019 and June 2019, Dunyadar conspired to falsify a driving log, and that on June 28, 2019, he made false statements to investigators of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Dunyadar falsely stated he was not aware that drivers employed by Westfield Transport falsified driving logs, when in fact he had knowledge that at least one driver had falsified logs.
DOT-OIG is conducting this investigation with assistance from FMCSA and NTSB.
