Pennsylvania Man Charged and Arrested for Wire Fraud and False Statements

On December 1, 2020, Peter Albanese was indicted in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for wire fraud, Social Security fraud, and false statements. He was arrested on December 8, 2020.

The indictment alleges that Albanese defrauded SSA by falsely representing he was disabled in order to obtain benefits. From 2017 through October 2020, Albanese collected over $80,000 in disability benefits while concealing that he was working and receiving income as a commercial motor vehicle driver. The indictment further alleges that Albanese presented a fraudulent Medical Examiner’s Certificate during a federally-regulated roadside inspection to conceal the fact that he was not medically examined and certified as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

DOT-OIG is conducting this investigation with SSA-OIG with substantial assistance from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
