Operator of Charter Bus Company Suspended
On September 2, 2020, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) suspended Le Wen Wu, the owner and sole corporate officer of L&W Travel Inc. (L&W), a passenger bus charter company, and proposed his debarment.
On October 8, 2019, Wu pleaded guilty to conspiracy to pay and bribe a public official. Specifically, he paid a FMCSA safety investigator $2,800 to influence a compliance review and safety audit of L&W in July and August 2018. He wanted to ensure that L&W’s buses would remain in service and that the company would not be subject to significant fines despite multiple safety violations.
DOT-OIG conducted this investigation jointly with Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from FMCSA.
Note: A suspension or debarment frequently covers a specific period of time. Please consult the System for Award Management to determine whether a company or individual is currently suspended or debarred.
