Aspiring Aviation Mechanic Sentenced for Bribery of an FAA Examiner
On August 13, 2020, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, sentenced Frank A. Jalion Amaro, to 26 months of probation, 100 hours of community service, and a $100 special assessment for bribery of an FAA Designated Mechanic Examiner (DME). On May 12, 2020, Amaro pled guilty to Bribery of a Public Official. Based on the information, Amaro—an aspiring aviation mechanic—tried to bribe an FAA DME into giving Amaro a passing score on an FAA exam. FAA regulations require individuals to pass this exam to become a certified aviation mechanic.
