South Carolina Company Sentenced for Illegally Importing Unapproved Fireworks

On July 23, 2020, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina convicted and sentenced SC Distributors (d.b.a Herbies Famous Fireworks Inc.) to a criminal fine of $200,000, up to 10,000 in destruction costs, and a $400 special assessment for using false documents to illegally import unapproved fireworks.

SC Distributors is the last participant to be sentenced in a scheme to illegally import fuses into the country. They knowingly omitted material information from documents to conceal the presence of the fuses in shipping containers entering the United States.
