Airline Passenger Indicted for Interfering with a Flight Attendant

On June 26, 2020, Matthew Dingley was indicted by a grand jury in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey for interfering with a flight attendant. According to the indictment, on January 9, 2020, Dingley—a passenger on a flight from Washington Dulles International Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport—allegedly interfered with a flight attendant’s ability to perform her duties by intimidating her and punching her several times.
 
DOT-OIG is investigating this case with the assistance from the FBI and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department.
