Maryland Man Ordered To Pay Over $1 Million in Restitution

On April 24, 2020, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland ordered William Francis Hickey III to pay $1,171,314.11 in restitution. On December 20, 2019, the court sentenced him to 20 months’ incarceration and 3 years’ supervised release, but deferred setting the restitution amount. Hickey, who is from Elkton, Maryland, pleaded guilty on September 26, 2019, to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of wire fraud. He had used two company bank accounts to deposit over 1,000 fraudulently obtained checks.
