Former President of People Express Airlines Sentenced for Fraud
On February 20, 2020, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia sentenced Michael Morisi, former president of People Express Airlines, Inc. to 24 months’ incarceration, 3 years’ supervised release, $500,319.24 in restitution, and a $200 special assessment. Morisi pleaded guilty to wire fraud and to filing a false Federal income tax return on July 25, 2019. He was charged with misappropriation of State and Federal funds from the Small Community Air Service Development Program, which is administered by DOT.
