On January 23, 2020, South Carolina Distributors (d.b.a. Herbie’s Famous Fireworks Inc.) pleaded guilty to importing goods into the United States by false pretenses. According to the plea agreement, which was entered in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the company admitted to illegally importing fuses into the country and omitting material information on documents to conceal the presence of the fuses in shipping containers entering the United States.

 

This investigation was conducted with assistance from the Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection Agency and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).
