Texas Man Sentenced for Piloting an Aircraft Without a Valid Pilot Certificate
On October 28, 2019, Anthony Budreau was sentenced in U.S. District Court, Plano, Texas, to 5 years’ probation, 6 months’ home detention, and a $100 special assessment for piloting an aircraft without a valid pilot certificate. Three separate indictments—issued in March, April, and June 2019—had charged Budreau with operating an unregistered aircraft and tampering with a witness, as well as piloting an aircraft without a valid pilot certificate.
The investigation revealed that on or about September 14, 2018, Budreau flew a plane from Sherman to Stephenville, in Texas, although he knew his pilot certificate had been revoked.
DOT-OIG conducted this investigation with the Department of Homeland Security–Homeland Security Investigations.
