Former Sheriff’s Deputy in Oklahoma Pleads Guilty to Theft of Federal Funds
On March 7, 2019, Doyle Allen Baker, a former sheriff’s deputy in Logan County, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court, Oklahoma City, to theft of Federal funds.
The investigation revealed that Baker submitted fake citations and warnings to conceal that he did not work his overtime shifts or left the shifts early. In official paperwork and payroll entries for the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, he falsely claimed that he worked the overtime shifts in their entirety. The overtime compensation was funded by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) grants to a program to counter alcohol-impaired driving.
