Four Charged in New York for Amtrak Ticket Fraud

On February 15, 2019, Lamont Brown, Adam Micek, Andre Wilburn, and Kevin Nelson were charged by criminal complaint in U.S. District Court, New York, New York, for conspiracy to commit access device fraud.

The complaint alleges that from about April 2016 through July 2018, Brown, Micek, Wilburn, and Nelson engaged in a scheme to defraud Amtrak by using stolen credit card account numbers to make trip reservations in Amtrak’s ticketing system and then canceling the reservations to receive eVouchers. They then sold the eVouchers at a discount online at websites such as eBay and Craigslist. The estimated loss to Amtrak is approximately $450,000.

DOT-OIG is conducting this investigation with Homeland Security Investigations and Amtrak-OIG.
