Texas A&M Research Foundation Settles Civil False Claims Act Allegations
On September 5, 2018, the Texas A&M Research Foundation (TAMRF), an independent nonprofit that facilitates research and development at Texas A&M University, agreed to pay $750,000.00 to the U.S. Government. The payment will settle allegations that TAMRF submitted improper charges to Federal grants. TAMRF receives grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts from various Federal agencies, including but not limited to the Departments of Education (DoED), Energy (DOE), and Transportation, as well the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and National Science Foundation (NSF).
DOT-OIG conducted this investigation with DoED, DOE, NASA, and NSF. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Texas, negotiated the settlement.
