South Carolina Man Sentenced for Making False Statements to DOT-OIG Special Agent

On July 9, 2018, Jeffery M. Patterson of Townville, South Carolina was sentenced in U.S. District Court, Anderson, South Carolina, to 36 months’ probation and a $100 assessment fee. On February 6, 2018, Patterson pleaded guilty after he was indicted in July 2017 for making false statements to a DOT-OIG Special Agent during an official investigation, misusing an agency seal, and aggravated identity theft.

The investigation found that Patterson falsified a letter to suggest it was issued by FAA, and falsely represented that he held various FAA certifications, including an airframe and powerplant mechanic’s certificate and an inspection authorization.
