Oklahoma Man Sentenced for Aiming a Laser Pointing Device at an Aircraft
On May 22, Travis Allen Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City to 36 months’ probation, 104 hours’ community service, a $100 special assessment fee, and $480.53 in restitution to the city.
On July 29, 2017, Jones aimed a laser pointer at an American Airlines regional jet operating as Envoy Air, while it was on approach to land at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. Jones later aimed the laser pointer at a local police department helicopter.
