New Audit Announcements
Audit Initiated of DOT’s Purchase Card Program
In fiscal year 2017, the Department had more than 225,000 purchase card transactions totaling $151.8 million in purchases. In accordance with the Government Charge Card Abuse Prevention Act of 2012, we are required to perform audits of purchase card transactions to identify potentially illegal, improper, or erroneous uses of purchase cards. Accordingly, we are initiating an audit to (1) evaluate DOT’s policies and procedures for oversight of its purchase card program, (2) test existing controls to determine if they provide reasonable assurance that improper purchases are prevented or detected in the normal course of business.
