On December 13, 2017, Travis Allen Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court, Oklahoma City, to one count of aiming a laser pointing device at an aircraft, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, section 39A. Jones was indicted on September 20, 2017.

 

The investigation disclosed that on July 29, 2017, Jones aimed a laser pointer at an American Airlines regional jet operating as Envoy Air, while it was on approach to land at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. Jones later aimed the laser pointer at an Oklahoma City Police Department helicopter.
