Project Management Oversight Entity Agrees To Pay $900,000 To Settle False Claims Act Violations

On October 10, 2017, URS Corporation (URS) reached a civil settlement with the United States. URS agreed to pay $900,000 to resolve civil claims concerning a joint-venture Project Management Oversight (PMO) agreement with Amtrak.

URS and its joint-venture partner performed PMO on several Amtrak projects in the eastern United States. In that role, URS entered into a contractual relationship with the United States, which contends that URS improperly billed Amtrak between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2014. The case arose when discrepancies were discovered during an audit of URS’ billing practices. The claims settled by this settlement agreement are allegations only, and there has been no determination of liability.
