Investigations

On September 20, 2017, Travis Allen Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was indicted in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City. Jones was charged with aiming a laser pointing device at two aircraft: a commercial jet and a police helicopter.

 

The indictment alleges that on July 29, 2017, Jones aimed a laser pointer at an American Airlines regional jet, operating as Envoy Air, while it was on approach to land at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. Jones subsequently aimed the laser pointer at an Oklahoma City Police Department helicopter.
