Former Member of Utah Transit Authority Board of Trustees Indicted for Bankruptcy Fraud

On April 5, 2017, Terry Charles Diehl, former member of the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Board of Trustees, was indicted in U.S. District Court, Salt Lake City, Utah, for bankruptcy fraud. Diehl was involved in real estate development and consulting and was a member of the UTA board from 2001 to 2011.

In March 2012, Diehl filed for bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah. As part of the bankruptcy proceedings, Diehl was required to submit a statement of financial affairs, fully disclosing all assets and liabilities. The joint DOT-OIG/FBI investigation developed information indicating Diehl made materially false declarations and concealed assets in his bankruptcy filings. These falsifications included not disclosing over $1,000,000 in gross income he received from real property related to a UTA Front Runner transit-oriented development in Draper, Utah.

DOT-OIG is conducting this investigation jointly with the FBI.
