Audit Initiated of Effectiveness of DOT’s Information Systems’ Disaster Recovery Plans and Exercises
The Office of Inspector General is initiating an audit of the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) information systems’ disaster recovery plans and exercises. DOT operations rely on more than 450 information systems. These systems, including air traffic control, communication, and network systems, provide fundamental capabilities for keeping the Nation’s transportation system safe and operational.
Our audit objectives are to determine whether DOT and its operating administrations have (1) developed adequate disaster recovery plans for their information systems; and (2) conducted effective test exercises of these plans to ensure they will work in the event of a disruption.
