Four All American Van Line Company Employees Jailed

Four former employees of All American Van Lines, Pembroke Park, FL, were ordered jailed for their involvement in a household-goods moving scheme that defrauded 259 victims and cost $1.5 million in losses. In the scheme, five defendants induced victims to contract for household-goods moving and shipping services and then fraudulently forced them to pay significantly higher bogus hidden costs in order to get their goods back. In some cases, the defendants never returned the victims' belongings.

Yaron Tishby, former president and owner, was ordered on July 13, 2001 to pay $2.5 million in restitution and sentenced to 40 months in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, mail fraud, and violating Federal transportation tariffs. Tishby, an Israeli citizen, will be deported following the completion of his prison sentence.

Three former employees were sentenced to jail terms of 12 to 20 months and ordered to pay restitution ranging from $5,914 to $780,543. The fifth and final defendant is a fugitive and believed to be somewhere in Ireland. All five defendants pleaded guilty to participation in the scheme. The investigation was conducted jointly by OIG, FBI, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement, with assistance from FMCSA.
