FBI Fugitive Pleads Guilty to Using False Name on Pilot Certificates
Jose F. Guasch of Miami, FL, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Ocala, FL, to making a false statement on FAA airline transport and flight instructor certificates in order to obtain employment as a flight instructor at Ocala Aviation, Inc., Ocala. In August 2000, Guasch used the name Jesus Franscisco Rios on the paperwork and was employed by Ocala Aviation until May 2001. Subsequent investigation, including fingerprint analysis, revealed Rios’ identity and that he was a fugitive from the FBI for the 1997 theft of a Lear jet. Those charges are still pending.
