Owner of Former FAA Repair Station Sentenced to $403,289 in Restitution and 3-Years Probation

On June 22, 2009, Jerry Roy Comeaux, owner of Quality Aircraft Support (QAS), pled no contest to a felony charge of fraud involving aircraft parts, in US District Court, Greenville, South Carolina. Mr. Comeaux was sentenced to pay the victims restitution of approximately $403,289 and to serve three years probation.

According to facts presented in court, Comeaux operated QAS, a business that repaired and overhauled aircraft parts. Mr. Comeaux had been licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a repair station but voluntarily surrendered his license in April 2006. Following surrender of his license, he continued to send out parts with fraudulent forms that suggested QAS was licensed by the FAA. These parts were shipped to various commercial carriers in Texas, Florida, Illinois, Ohio, and other locations throughout the country. This DOT/OIG case was investigated with the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, and the FAA.
