OIG began a review of the Department’s Air Carrier Compensation Payment Program, which will compensate air carriers for losses resulting from the September 11 terrorist attacks. The objectives of the audit are to review the Department’s procedures and processes for implementing the Program’s payment provisions, including ensuring that the provisions are consistently analyzed and applied and evaluating whether air carriers’ claims are reasonable.
