Trucking Firm and President Sentenced in Hours-of-Service Violations
July 24, 2002
L&M Trucking Corp., Inc., and its president, John Michaud, of St. Agatha, ME, were sentenced in U.S. District Court in Bangor, ME for their role in accepting fraudulent hours-of-service records from their drivers. Now bankrupt, L&M must relinquish its DOT numbers (which prohibits it from operating) for knowingly accepting falsified hours-of- service records. Michaud was fined $2,000 and sentenced to 3 years' supervised probation for defacing toll receipts and other trip documents that would have contradicted the false records. The company and Michaud pleaded guilty in April.
